Designs inspired by the colours of nature
Our Textile Designer/Makers
I have been sewing most of my life. This led me to take a BA Hons Textiles/Art course at Goldsmith’s Art College, London. I have a passion for recycling and reusing old fabrics, ends of roll lengths and smaller pieces that would otherwise be thrown away.
Each of my present bags is unique, similar fabrics may be used but in different combinations. These combinations are influenced by the amount of fabric available the weight, colours, textures and colour balances. My surroundings influence my work as I use 'found' natural objects and materials in my art work and am exploring dying the fabrics I use with local plants.
Cuddlezoo was founded in July 2004. After the birth of my son, like so many new mothers I felt the need for a better work, life balance. All my products are designed and made in Ammanford Carmarthenshire in my garden studio. The range includes children's fleece hoodies and hats, personalised gifts and home accessories, specialising in original, exclusive applique motifs.
Using fleece from Alpaca, mohair and silk fibres, Joanna Kingston hand spins and creates original knits resulting in luxuriously soft scarves and hats. All Joanna’s designs are unique to the animal the wool comes from.
Pear Tree Patchwork
Gill Clark works from her home in Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales designing patchwork and quilting products using both traditional and contemporary methods. Because Gill has an ever-changing stash of fabrics, every piece She makes is unique.
My name is Enfys Jenkins and I LOVE TO SEW !
I specialise in handmade bags, purses, retro aprons, cushions and pretty much anything that inspires me! I love to bring a burst of colour to any room with soft furnishings from a range of vintage, retro and recycled fabrics.
My creations are lovingly designed using quality sourced and vintage fabrics from my home in Llandybie, West Wales and are made in very small quantities so you can be sure every product is different and unusual.
At Sunbird Silks I use wonderful light silk which is smooth and fine in texture. It is glorious to wear - with the colours bringing out the wonderful lustre of this amazing fabric. Not only is silk warm in the winter, it is cool in the summer.
I have loved colour all my life, and the joy for me in the dyeing process is the colour blending and mixing. I use only red, blue and yellow, and a little black. This enables me to mix any colour or shade. I do this creatively rather than scientifically - often repeating the process a few times in order to get the depth of colour or shade.
I welcome commissions and work with my customers to achieve the very best outcome for them. You can be assured that each scarf is a unique item created by me at Sunbird Silks.
